Launching Green Minds: Journeys Towards Ecoliteracy – A New Podcast Series from the Ecoliteracy Hub

Green Minds: Journeys Towards Ecoliteracy is a new podcast by the Ecoliteracy Hub exploring ecoliteracy as a lived practice. Through conversations with educators, practitioners, and change-makers, Season 1 dives into 8 key competences shaping just and sustainable futures.

The Ecoliteracy Hub is excited to announce the launch of our new podcast series, Green Minds: Journeys Towards Ecoliteracy, a space for thoughtful conversations on what it truly means to develop the competences needed for a just and sustainable future.

With this podcast, we wanted to go beyond abstract definitions and policy language. Our aim is simple but ambitious: to explore ecoliteracy as a lived practice, grounded in real experiences, learning processes, and transformative action. Each episode invites listeners into a dialogue with practitioners, educators, researchers, and change-makers who bring diverse perspectives and hands-on experience.

The first season will feature eight episodes, each dedicated to a key competence that we believe is essential for navigating today’s social, ecological, and economic challenges. These competences include a combination of some of those outlined in the GreenComp framework, alongside additional ones that The Ecoliteracy Hub has identified through its work in education and sustainability.

The episodes will dive into:

  • Conciencia holística
  • Pensamiento exploratorio
  • Mentalidad de decrecimiento
  • Individual action
  • Respaldo a la ecuanimidad
  • Self-sufficiency
  • Promoción de la naturaleza
  • Capacidad de proyecciones de futuro

Across the series, we intentionally combine systemic, personal, and societal dimensions of learning. Our guests approach these competences from different angles — education, community work, policy, activism, research, and lived experience — helping to illuminate how each competence shows up in practice. Rather than treating competences as isolated skills, the conversations reveal their interconnections and tensions, as well as the contexts in which they can flourish.

A core focus of Green Minds is learning design. Throughout the episodes, we explore questions such as: What does this competence actually look like in real life? How can it be nurtured over time? And how can we design meaningful learning paths that support individuals and groups in developing these capacities in inclusive, empowering ways?

The podcast is intended for educators, youth workers, sustainability practitioners, policy-makers, and anyone curious about deepening their understanding of ecoliteracy. Whether you are designing learning programmes, facilitating group processes, or reflecting on your own journey, we hope the conversations offer clarity, inspiration, and practical insights.

All episodes will be available through the Ecoliteracy Hub’s website and podcast platforms. We warmly invite you to listen, reflect, and join us on this journey towards a more ecoliterate future.
