Objectives:

  • Strengthen creative, out of the box thinking.

Preparation:

Tools needed: papers, pens, a list of possible themes for brainstorming visible in the space

Description

The activity can be done individually or in small groups (3-5 persons). Each participant/group has paper and pens.
The facilitator poses an initial statement; it can be a broad one such as "if anything was possible, how would you protect the nature on Earth" or more precise "if anything was possible, how would you make your home/school/village/city more sustainable".
Participants brainstorm as many solutions as possible, for example
– a quick solution
– a fun solution
– a cheap solution
– a technological solution
– a natural solution
– an artistic solution
– a goofy solution
– a communal solution
– an intergenerational solution

All solutions are greeted and celebrated with the same enthusiasm and no critique is allowed at this point. There might be next steps, where some of the solutions are being cultivated into more practical or concrete actions.

Variations

Gather different items or pictures in a bag. Blindly pick up items/picture from the bag and come up with a solution that utilizes the item you picked, either in a concrete or a metaphorical manner.
