Exercise should take place outside in nature

Tools needed: Empty (match)boxes or an origami box with lid
Materials available in the nature: rocks, leaves, firs, flowers, loose moss...

Description

Finnish composer Jean Sibelius used to carry a matchbox with small items from Finnish forest (leaves, stones, firs..) to remind him of his surroundings and to transfer him to the forest from his work desk. Also it worked as a source of creativity.

Collect a nature box of your own liking from your surroundings, remember not to pick living materials directly from the plants or endangered materials such as lichen, moss etc and ask permission from land owner if needed. Which materials feel good in the hand, smell familiar or give you satisfaction to look at.

Reflection: what did you choose, why? What did you leave out? Did you see your nearby nature with a new perspective? Which emotions smelling or touching the items raise?
